Practice Policies
Spex Design Optometrist
At Spex Design Optometrist, we are committed to providing personalised, high-quality eye care in a relaxed and professional environment. To ensure we can deliver the best possible service to all our clients, we ask that you take a moment to review our practice policies.
Appointments & Cancellations
We operate by appointment to allow adequate time and attention for each client.
- We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling.
- Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments (no-shows), may incur a cancellation fee.
- Repeated missed appointments may require pre-payment to secure future bookings.
We appreciate your understanding, as late cancellations prevent us from offering the appointment to another client.
Consultation Fees
Spex Design Optometrist is a private billing practice.
- Our standard comprehensive consultation fee is $125, payable on the day of your appointment.
- This includes advanced testing and a detailed assessment of your vision and eye health.
- If you are eligible, a Medicare rebate of up to $66.50 can be processed on your behalf at the time of payment (subject to Medicare rules and frequency).
Medicare & Private Health Funds
- Medicare rebates are processed in-practice where applicable.
- Private health insurance typically applies to optical items (frames, lenses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses), not the consultation itself.
- We can process most health fund claims on the spot if you bring your physical or digital health fund card. Otherwise, we can provide a detailed receipt for you to claim directly.
Coverage varies between funds and policies, and we recommend checking with your insurer for specific entitlements.
Eyewear Orders & Deposits
- A 50% deposit is required to confirm all eyewear orders.
- The remaining balance is payable upon collection.
- As all prescription eyewear is custom-made, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once production has commenced.
We will always explain lens options, pricing, and expected timeframes before confirming your order.
Contact Lenses
- Contact lenses require specific fitting measurements and assessment to ensure comfort, safety, and clear vision.
- If you are new to contact lenses, a fit and teach appointment is required to show you how to safely insert, remove, and care for your lenses.
- Contact lenses must be paid in full at the time of ordering, unless otherwise arranged.
For your eye health, contact lenses should only be worn and replaced as prescribed.
Prescriptions
- Spectacle and contact lens prescriptions are not interchangeable and are issued separately.
- Prescriptions are valid for a defined period, as advised by your optometrist.
- If you experience discomfort or vision concerns with a new prescription, please contact us promptly so we can assist.
Adjustments & Aftercare
- Complimentary adjustments are available for eyewear purchased from Spex Design Optometrist.
- We encourage clients to return if their glasses feel uncomfortable or require fine-tuning, small adjustments can make a big difference.
Arrival Time & Parking
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time for pre-testing and check-in.
- Parking is available behind the building.
Respect & Courtesy
We strive to provide a welcoming and respectful environment for all clients and staff. We kindly ask that the same courtesy is extended to our team at all times.
